About Bright Apple

Bright Apple Tutoring was founded in 2002 by Laurie Hurley.

Laurie has been involved in the tutoring industry since 1998, when she owned an in-home tutoring franchise in Cape Cod, Masschussetts. Laurie relocated to Southern California in 2001 and decided to branch out on her own and offer one-on-one tutoring to students in all of Ventura County and the Northern Los Angeles County areas.

Laurie obtained her Bachelor of Science degree from Michigan State University, majoring in Human Ecology and Psychology. She was employed for over fifteen years by Hilton Hotels Corporation as an Executive in charge of Operations for some of the most world reknowned hotels, such as the Waldorf-Astoria in Manhattan and the Fountainbleau Hilton in Miami Beach.



Retiring from the corporate world after her first child was born, Laurie discovered that her true passion was being a home-based entrepreneur. Matching her excellent pool of over 60 tutors, teachers and educators with students in need of individualized attention is fulfilling and rewarding.

Laurie is active in the community, having served on the Education Committee of the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, volunteering in her daughter's classrooms, and sponsoring more soccer and softball teams than she can count! Laurie has also coached Youth Track in Newbury Park and currently is the Treasurer of the Newbury Park High School Booster Club Cross Country team.

Laurie resides in Dos Vientos Ranch in Newbury Park with her husband, Matt and her two daughters, both students in the Conejo Valley Unified School District. She enjoys hiking, biking, and running in her spare time.
