PSAT/NMSQT DATES

Sunday, July 26th, 2009

I’ve been getting lots of inquiries about the PSAT test dates. Here they are -

Wednesday, October 14 & Saturday, October 17.

This exam is admnistered by the high schools, not test centers. Registration takes place at your local high school. You cannot register online for this exam and every high school chooses only one date to administer the test, so be sure you know whether it’s Wednesday or Saturday!

The NMSQT is the test for the National Merit Society and is only given to juniors in high school. Check with your guidance counselor for more information.

These two tests measure a student’s writing skills, critical reading skills and math problem-solving skills and are an important part of college preparation, as well as excellent exposure as to what to expect on the SAT exam, which most colleges and universities require as part of their admission process.

WHY ONE-ON-ONE TUTORING?

Friday, July 24th, 2009

Hello. I am Laurie Hurley, President and Founder of Bright Apple Tutoring and Educational Services, Inc. I have been matching tutors with students for in-home tutoring  since 2002.   I started Bright Apple because I truly believe a student learns best in the comfort of their home with a tutor who understands them – all aspects – the subject matter in which they need help, their unique learning style and their personality.

With class sizes increasing due to school closures and other economic reasons,  it is easy for a student to get “lost” in the classroom. That is where Bright Apple comes in and helps you get the right help for your student.  Our philosophy is a child will learn better, at their own kitchen table, working with their textbooks and assignments, away from distractions and peer pressure.

Our tutors are professional individuals who truly enjoy making that all important connection with a student.  Our focus is on applying concepts and improving study skills – not just homework help.

One-on-one tutoring is affordable and convenient – we come to you at your convenience and we tutor seven days a week, all  year long.  We  hope to hear from you if your child is in need of expert, individualized attention.  Check our blog often for subjects that pertain to education!
